A big jump in numbers of planning applications has prompted the London Borough of Sutton to look to expand its development management team.
Planning manager Richard Green told Planning: “We've seen a 20 per cent to 30 per cent year-on-year increase in planning applications for the last three years.
“The residential market is very strong and as people look beyond London's zone three, big developers names such as Redrow Homes and Barrett are also looking at Sutton.
“We want to make sure we are fully resourced and expand the service to deal with the significant rise in planning applications.”
The council wants to increase its development management team that currently numbers about 15 planners by taking on another planning officer.
