Aylesbury Vale District Council is looking to recruit a planing policy team leader to assist work on a new local plan.

The new postholder will lead the planning policy team within the council's forward plans section and help prepare the new local plan to 2031.

Forward plans manager Andy Kirkham told Planning: “We are pushing forward with the new local plan and are commissioning work to identify housing need.

“The new colleague will work on that and everything else associated with the plan. A recent call for sites drew 240 responses from developers and agents putting forward potential sites.”

Kirkham said the area had a unique demographic: green belt to the south, the “growth engine” of Milton Keynes to the north and heavily constrained urban areas such as Luton to the east.

“Our area is a growth area for Buckinghamshire. The job therefore isn't just about Aylesbury Vale but working with neighbours looking at our housing needs and potentially others".

Kirkham said he expected the local plan to be published for adoption in two years' time.
