The London Borough of Lambeth is recruiting to fill a new post after merging all of its planning application services.

The London authority said that the Area Delivery Lead role would include developing the council’s planning & development service, driving planning application performance and looking for new ways to steer the department forward.

Director of planning and development David Joyce said the London borough had never had a higher number of planning applications in recent history and the new role would bring together services for all types of applications.

“We want to drive performance, bring everything together and join it up more effectively,” he said.

“We will deal with everything from major applications to standard day-to-day work such as infill schemes and residential extensions.”

Joyce said major applications included schemes along the River Thames from Vauxhall to Waterloo as well as in areas including Brixton and Clapham.

“The market is really gearing up and we want the right level of experience because we are dealing with almost every conceivable kind of project and organisation.

“They range from tall towers to unique existing buildings such as County Hall and organisations including Coin Street Community Builders and leading architects.”
