Rochester riversideA drive to better connect strategic planning and infrastructure work has prompted Kent County Council to expand its planning policy team.

Director of environment, planning and enforcement Katie Stewart told Planning: “We are creating a new post because of the nature of our growth agenda.

“We are finding more of our work is tying strategic planning and the infrastructure agenda and we want to create a new strategic role.”

The council is seeking to recruit a new strategic planning and infrastructure manager to expand a policy team of four planners.

Stewart said: “We currently have a separate planning policy and transport planning team and we want want to get the teams working more closely together.

“The postholder will lead the ongoing development of the Kent and Medway growth and infrastructure framework which presents a comprehensive picture of growth and infrastructure at a strategic level.”
