Iain Jenkinson has joined CBRE’s Manchester office as senior director for the office’s planning team, as part of the expansion of the planning and development team.

Jenkinson arrives after more than 13 years at rival consultancy GVA, where he most recently served as senior director.

His appointment follows a series of appointments and promotions which will continue, eventually leading to the team doubling in size by the end of 2015, the firm said.

Jenkinson said: “My focus is on growing a northern planning and development team focused on Manchester and Leeds, and continuing to advise on the delivery of some of the North's most significant development projects."

The office is hoping to build on its growing workload advising on private rental sector units, after securing planning permission for more than 1,300 such hoes in 2014.

The firm said that its key clients in the North include Schroders, CBRE Global Investors, Muse Developments, Maple Grove Developments, Dandara, Taylor Wimpey and United Utilities.

In his previous role as senior director at GVA, Jenkinson oversaw projects including the second Mersey Crossing, Chester’s new Business Quarter and an innovation campus at Lancaster University.

In addition, Jenkinson developed the firm’s public funding capabilities, including helping to establish and subsequently manage the North West’s JESSICA project, funded by the European Investment Bank.

He has a master’s degree in town planning from the University of Manchester.
