Alconbury enterprise zoneHuntingdonshire District Council is expanding its urban design capacity to deal with a number of large settlements coming forward.

The authority currently employs just one part time urban design officer but has created an additional full time position.

The new officer will join the authority’s strategic developments team comprising planners and urban design officers overseeing growth in Huntingdonshire.

Clara Kerr, planning service manager at the council, told Planning: “The new role will involve working on everything from conservation areas to our large scale major developments.

“We encourage pre-application discussions and it will be good to have the resources to help us work with developers to deliver well designed schemes.”

The district has a number of large schemes coming forward, including Alconbury Weald, which consists of 5,000 homes and a 150-hectare enterprise zone.
