Canadian real estate firm Avison Young has confirmed the acquisition of consultancy GVA and has appointed former GVA CEO Gerry Hughes as its principal and managing director for both the UK and global consultancy.
Last November, the Toronto-based real estate services firm announced it had entered into a "definitive agreement" to acquire GVA. Last week, it confirmed that the deal had been finalised.
The new firm, which inherits one of the UK's biggest planning consultancy teams, is now operating entirely under the Avison Young brand.
Hughes said he is expecting the Avison Young planning team to grow as a result of the merger but said he did not have an idea of numbers at this time.
