Hughes appointed to lead Bilfinger GVA
Development consultancy Bilfinger GVA has appointed chartered planner Gerry Hughes as its new chief executive.
Hughes has worked at the company since 1992 in a number of roles, most recently as national head of the company’s planning, development and regeneration team.
He replaces Rob Bould, who has left the business after more than 40 years, but who will retain a consultancy role.
Dr Joachim Ott, executive president of Bilfinger Real Estate said that the appointment would help develop growth plans across the UK and Europe.
The company said that Hughes has been chosen partly because of his experience in establishing public/private joint venture delivery structures and funding mechanisms.
Hughes is a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and holds a master of science degree in town and country planning from Queen’s University, Belfast.
He previously worked as director of planning in the Manchester office of architecture practice Building Design Partnership.
