Martin Herbert WYGMartin Herbert has joined planning consultancy WYG as a planning director in the firm's London office.

Herbert joins from infrastructure consultancy AECOM, where as a technical director he provided advice on the residential, commercial and water infrastructure sectors.

In his new role he will focus on strategic site promotion for residential-led mixed use development in London and the South East.

Speaking after his appointment, Herbert said: “The challenge for London is that some regeneration sites are becoming so large and complex only a handful of developers can take them on. More partnerships are likely.”

Prior to working at AECOM, Herbert worked as director of town planning and environment at consultancy Scott Wilson.

He also spent spells at consultancies Chetwood Associates and Scott Brownrigg after starting his career in the planning department at Lewes District Council.
