Planning consultancy PWA Planning has appointed Josh Hellawell as an assistant planner.

The Lancashire-based firm has made the move as part of a growth strategy which has seen its headcount grow from five to eight in recent months.

Hellawell joins from an equivalent role at renewables firm Green Switch Solutions, where he helped produce planning applications for large scale solar energy farms around the UK.

Paul Walton, director of PWA Planning said: “Josh brings with him experience of working on some high-profile planning applications in the renewable energy sector, boosting our expertise in this specialist area of planning.”

Hellawell has a master’s degree in town and country planning from the University of Manchester.

Meanwhile, Maria Utting has joined the firm as a planning and administrative apprentice, and Edel Barr has been appointed as a personal assistant to the management team.
