Planning consultancy DTZ has appointed Chris Hays to lead a new town planning team in its Bristol office.

The new team will provide consultancy services across the South West of England and Hays will be in charge of developing the company’s profile in the region and wider.

He joins from his previous role as associate director at rival consultancy WYG Group, which he joined in 2000.

Hays said: “With positivity growing in the market place and town planning's prominence at the front end of the development process, this is an exciting time for my move.”

Tim Davis, head of the Bristol office of DTZ, said that the firm was continuing its expansion due to increased demand in the South West.

A chartered planner, Hays is a member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation.

He lists his areas of expertise as including retail planning, regeneration, environmental impact assessment, expert witness, and historic building conservation.

He has a bachelor’s in environmental planning and a diploma in town planning from the University of Central England, along with a master’s degree in historic building conservation.
