Hastings - Flickr copyrightHastings Borough Council is expanding its planning team to deal with a wave of regeneration projects in the south coast town.

The council is recruiting for a new senior planner to join its team after Eleanor Evans was appointed as planning services manager in January.

The new recruit will be expected to work on applications for schemes including a multi-million pound project to revamp its historic pier, and a new link road.

Evans told Planning: “When I joined earlier this year, I was asked to do a review of our planning service.

“Part of that review recommended that we recruit more staff.”

The new senior planner will be responsible for assessing planning applications and writing reports.

In addition, the council is internally advertising for another post for a junior planning officer role, in an attempt to increase the size of the planning team from 4.6 to 6.6 full time equivalent staff.
