Consultancy Carter Jonas is on a recruitment drive to tackle increasing amounts of work across the board for landowners, developers and the public sector.

The company wants to recruit a planner or senior planner, to be based in Oxford and work on range of projects including promotion of large scale greenfield sites for residential development.

Partner and head of planning for the firm’s southern region Ian Gillespie told Planning: “We are seeing more public-sector work as well as more instructions from developers.

“Many public-sector teams are getting smaller and recognise the role planning and development teams such as ours can play in adding value, expertise and capacity.

“The slow but general improvement in economic conditions, coupled with the requirement for local planning authorities to seek to meet their objectively assessed housing needs have led to a significant increase in our work for developers, promoters and landowners.

“Work involves promoting sites through the local plan process, as well as making planning applications where authorities are unable to demonstrate a five-year land supply.”
