Property consultancy GL Hearn is pressing on with expansion in its planning team due to significant increases in development activity.

The firm is recruiting planners and senior planners in its London and Glasgow offices, along with an assistant planner in Manchester.

The push comes on top of a recent expansion, which has seen the firm increase its staff numbers by a fifth.

Alastair Crowdy, national head of planning, development & regeneration at GL Hearn (pictured), said: “We have ambitious plans to capitalise on the success GL Hearn is having in London.

“Although other parts of the country are seeing significant increases in development activity, opportunities in London are a different order of magnitude.

“While the growth of the national economy has been driven by London - and we continue to see great opportunity there - we are now also seeing clients pushing into regional markets to a greater extent and the demand for our services increasing accordingly.”

New planners will be expected to support directors in undertaking research, preparing feasibility and site appraisals and liaising with clients, consultants and local planning authorities.

The senior positions will also include overseeing, managing and co-ordinating preparation of planning applications and management of junior staff.
