Chartered town planner Neil Gibson is set to take the top job at Buckinghamshire County Council.
Gibson, currently managing director for the transport, economy, environment and business unit, will take over as chief executive on an interim basis.
He will replace Chris Williams, who has held the post for the past 15 years, on 1 April.
Gibson has been part of the council’s senior management team since 2004, when he was appointed strategic director for planning and transport, a role he held until the start of this year.
He started his career at King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council in 1982 as a town planner.
Gibson has a bachelor’s degree in town planning from Liverpool John Moores University, as well as postgraduate diplomas in management studies and environmental management.
