Geering lands head of planning role at Shepway

Ben Gering, Shepway CouncilBen Geering has been unveiled as the new head of planning at Shepway District Council.

Geering, who has been at the authority for the past nine years, moves from his current role as major projects manager.

He will take on strategic leadership for schemes including the planned regeneration of Folkestone and the development of a new garden town, Otterpool Park.

Geering was previously major projects officer at the council, after joining in 2007 as a planning officer.

Prior to that, he worked as a planning officer at Ashford Borough Council

A chartered planner, Geering has a master of arts in city/urban, community and regional planning from London South Bank University.

He also has a postgraduate certificate in strategic leadership from Canterbury Christ Church University and a bachelor’s in geography from the University of Reading.
