The Cambridge office of law firm Birketts has appointed a former local authority planner as a solicitor in its planning and environment team.

Chloe Glason joined the firm as a trainee solicitor in September 2012, following 10 years’ experience as a planner working for Suffolk Coastal District Council and the London Borough of Lewisham.

She has expertise in enforcement matters, as well as an interest in law relating to listed building and heritage assets.

She told Planning: “In my role at Suffolk Coastal, I had responsibility for enforcement and found it fascinating. I wanted to explore the legal side of planning further.”

After completing an undergraduate degree in English from Cambridge University, she gained a masters in town planning from Anglia Ruskin University.

Tom Newcombe, team leader of the planning and environment team in Cambridge, said: “I am delighted that Chloe has qualified as a solicitor at Birketts.

“We have seen a growing number of instructions, predominantly from developers and landowners but also from local authorities, private individuals and community groups.”
