FlintshireA planning restructure at Flintshire County Council has led to the local authority to begin the search for a new planner.

Chief officer for planning and environment Andrew Farrow told Planning: “Instead of a number of teams operating to support the development process, our restructure will bring the core ones together into one service with a single manager."

The council wants to recruit a service manager in development to work at local, sub-regional and regional levels in all areas of planning, enforcement, highways and building control.

The new postholder will also manage highways development control, building control and land charges.

Flintshire Council currently has a planning team of 17 planners.

“This is a critical role in terms of implementing the new Planning Act, which received royal assent in Wales last year", said Farrow.

“The new postholder will streamline the process of taking a development from pre-application discussions through to project completion.”
