A planning consultancy launched last year has expanded to meet growing demand for small-scale urban infill projects.

Stratagem Planning Consultants, based in Shoreditch, east London, has recruited Allison Sanderson from Kember Loudon Williams as a part-time planner.

Founding director Mark Matheson told Planning: “We are seeing more small to medium-sized urban developments, typically residential.

“This is being driven by the high value of property in London but also the changes to permitted development and prior approval for change from commercial to residential use.

“This has opened a whole new opportunity for developers and planning consultancies and the sector is very buoyant.”

Matheson, who used to work as a planner at the London boroughs of Southwark, Wandsworth and Hackney, launched Stratagem Planning last year.
