planMid Devon District Council is looking to expand its planning team to tackle ambitious development plans across the district, including a possible garden village scheme.

Forward planning officer Poie Li told Planning: “Our forward planning team is facing a challenging time, finalising a local plan in the lead-up to an examination in public.

“The team is involved in masterplanning and monitoring, preparation of supplementary planning documents and support for neighbourhood plans.”

Two weeks ago the council announced it had submitted a bid to the government for support in delivering a new garden village development on land to the east of Cullompton (pictured).

The council is looking to expand its forward planning team that currently includes three planners by recruiting a principal forward planning officer.
