Property firm Deloitte Real Estate has recruited six planners to its Manchester and Leeds offices on the back of an upturn in residential work.

Planner and director Michele Steel told Planning: “Since the start of 2014 there's been an upturn not just in enquiries but people progressing schemes in the north west. The residential market has come back, in a planning sense, very strongly.”

In Manchester, assistant director Melissa Wilson joins from GVA. Assistant planner Andrew Cowan joins straight from Sheffield University and assistant planner Michael Percival joins fresh from Manchester University.

In Leeds senior planner Pete Gleave joins from ID Planning. Assistant planner Ellen Sanderson joins from Savills and assistant planner Maria White joins from Manchester University.

The six form part of a recruitment push taking in 11 building professionals in total.
