Aberaeron harbourA Welsh county council is targeting developers and landowners to bring forward construction projects.

Ceredigion County Council planner and head of performance and economy Russell Hughes-Pickering told Planning: “This is an exciting time for out authority.

“We are preparing for the first review of our local development plan and are working with developers and landowners to bring forward projects in one of the best parts of the UK to live and work.”

Development work had to be balanced with preservation, Hughes-Pickering said.

Ceredigion had three local nature reserves and a new coast path following a 60-mile route, linking towns and villages dotted along the Cardigan Bay coastline.

The council is seeking to appoint a planning policy officer to help in the on-going preparation and implementation of the new development plan for the county.

The postholder, based in Aberaeron (pictured), will also tackle work involving supplementary guidance and other strategies.
