Countryside team to add planning capacity
A county council countryside department is to add a planner to its team in a bid to tackle issues earlier in the planning process.
Hampshire County Council map review officer Sylvia Seeliger told Planning: “We are looking at taking a more strategic view of the countryside and planning.
“Instead of responding to individual applications later in the process on countryside matters, we need to deal with them at earlier stages in the planning process to clear up areas like rights of way and mitigation.
Hampshire County Council is looking to recruit a planning and development officer to identify through the planning process ways to protect and enhance the county's countryside and access to it.
