Council planners work with university on economic growth

Oxford town hallA council planning team is working with a world-famous university to give added momentum to the city's economic growth agenda. 

Oxford City Council planning policy team leader Mark Jaggard told Planning: “There's lots of exciting development taking place. 

“We are working with Oxford University and hospitals on the knowledge-based economy, which is particularly vibrant at the moment.

“The university is looking at a number of schemes that link through to economic development and things like the City Deal to help support economic growth, create jobs and invest in local projects.”

The council looking to recruit a senior planner to work on policy issues.

The council has adopted five development plan documents and a community infrastructure levy charging schedule.

The new postholder will tackle research and evidence gathering to help firm up policy documents and work on consultation, analysis and refinement of policy options and community engagement.
