The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has appointed Michael Corbett as a planning officer.

Corbett joins the council from Wokingham Borough Council, where he worked as a technical officer within the planning department, based in Maidenhead, Berkshire.

He will assist senior members of the team which is currently guiding the borough’s local plan through to examination and adoption.

Miles Thompson, planning policy manager at Windsor and Maidenhead, told Planning: “Michael will be contributing to the work on the local plan, which is just coming up for its second preferred options stage.

“We were looking for an enthusiastic planner as we get ready to face the next round of planning challenges.”

Corbett will also work on a number of neighbourhood plans with which the council is involved. The borough was an original frontrunner for the programme, and has 10 such plans in the pipeline, having already adopted one, Thompson said.

Additional work will include working on research work relating to planning strategy in the borough.

Corbett gained a bachelors in city and regional planning from Cardiff University, and is planning to complete a masters conversion course.
