Multi-disciplinary consultancy Iceni Projects has taken over a planning consultancy and launched a new Midlands office in Birmingham.

Iceni Projects took over planning consultancy Richmond Planning on Monday (6 September).

The Midlands office will be headed up by chartered planner Gemma Jenkinson, who founded Richmond Planning in 2017. It will be based in The Colmore Building in Birmingham City Centre.

Iceni Projects said it has 45 chartered planners across the company, and the Birmingham office will have two planners to begin with – Jenkinson and assistant planner Simran Kang. Richmond Planning was unable to disclose the number of planners at the point of its takeover.

Iceni’s CEO Ian Anderson said: “Birmingham is arguably the most exciting and vibrant place to be in the country right now, with incredible levels of inward investment, and competing land use demands.

“We have had to be patient in finding the right person with the drive and ambition to lead our first foray into Birmingham, which makes Gemma’s decision to join us all the more rewarding”.

Jenkinson added: “I am really looking forward to combining the ingredients that have made both Iceni Projects and Richmond Planning successful; the backbone and infrastructure of a multi-skilled consultancy with the local insight and touch of a business with Midlands know-how.”
