A northern consultancy has expanded its planning team on the back of mounting workloads for housing, commercial and mixed-use developments.

Turley has strengthened its Leeds office by appointing Mike Ashworth associate director. He joins from local practice Spawforths and brings 15 years’ experience across public and private sectors.

The appointment takes the Leeds team to 14, one of the largest planning consultancy teams in the region, covering Yorkshire and the north east, said director John Brooks.

He told Planning: “As we continue to grow, Mike’s experience will give us more strength and depth in his focus on housing, mixed-use and commercial developments.

“There is cautious optimism out there: Leeds has been through a renaissance in the last couple of years with a few big projects and the Tour de France. That is reflected in the development market.”
