Consultancy director appointed RTPI vice president

The founding director of a planning consultancy has been elected vice president of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).

Sue Bridge will take over the vice presidency in 2022, while continuing in her current role as chair of the board of trustees. According to the RTPI, she will initially work alongside 2022 president Timothy Crawshaw before becoming president the following year.

Bridge founded independent planning consultancy Sue Bridge Consulting. in 2014. The Leicestershire-based firm primarily serves the Midlands and specialises in strategic land development.

With experience in both the public and private sectors, her previous roles include head of planning for Northampton Borough Council and director of the planning and development division at housebuilder Bellway Homes.

RTPI chief executive Victoria Hills said: “The RTPI is delighted to have a planner of Sue’s calibre as its next vice president. Sue has many years’ experience as a planning practitioner in both local government and the private sector and has served the institute in a range of voluntary roles. I am sure she will bring a range of interesting and challenging ideas to the table at this fascinating time for the profession.”
