Environmental planning consultancy, LUC, has promoted a planner to director of the historic environment.

Steven Orr has been promoted to the position from his previous role as associate environmental planner.

Orr has worked in environmental planning at the consultancy for more than 13 years, prior to which worked as a historic land-use assessment project officer at the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland.

According to LUC, his expertise includes heritage management and impact assessment, conservation management plans, and expert witness work, and he has a particular interest in World Heritage issues.

Orr said: “While there are definitely challenges for our heritage – in the form of climate change, planning reform and the need to understand the full stories of our treasured places – there are also significant opportunities for LUC in contributing robust evidence and high-quality, sensitive solutions.”
