Retirement living developer Churchill Retirement Living has appointed a new land, design and planning director.
Chartered planner Gary Day joins the developer, having spent over 32 years working at another specialist retirement home developer, McCarthy & Stone, the last 20 of which he was group land and planning director.
As part of his new role, Day will also join Churchill’s Plc Board, and work with the senior team with the aim of increasing the number of land purchases and planning consents, said the developer.
Churchill added that Day has advised central and devolved governments in England, Scotland and Wales on their strategies for housing the ageing population, has sat on numerous government expert panels and provided evidence to government select committee inquiries.
Day has also advised the sector-wide membership organisation Retirement Housing Group on how to engage with the government to secure a more “proactive” planning system, “including a formal planning policy presumption in favour of retirement housing”, according to Churchill.
