RobertsonProperty consultancy Carter Jonas has hired Lachlan Robertson to spearhead its planning work in the South West of England.

Robertson, who has been made a partner at Carter Jonas, joins from Savills’ Reading branch where he has worked for two years as a director specialising in strategic development and planning policy promotions.

Prior to its acquisition by Savills, Robertson worked at Smiths Gore advising rural clients on planning policy promotions and planning applications.

In a statement, Carter Jonas said that Robertson has more than 34 years’ experience in the planning sector, including 25 in local government.

Previous roles include lead project manager for Central Bedfordshire Council, where Robertson coordinated the delivery of several significant residential and commercial developments and large-scale urban expansion projects, the statement said.

Robertson said: “In the current economic and political climate, it is more important than ever to ensure that quality, affordable homes are being delivered, and I look forward to working with the team to help our new clients in the South West to address both the challenges and opportunities that this presents.”
