An outsourced planning service at a London council is looking to expand to help it cope with major development and regeneration initiatives.

Capita Property and Infrastructure operates a joint venture with the London Borough of Barnet for development and regulatory services including strategic planning, development management and regeneration services.

Barnet Council chief planning officer John Allen told Planning: “In addition to substantial development across Barnet, valued at £6bn, the council is delivering seven big growth and regeneration schemes.

“These include Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration and more than 15,000 new homes. This means we need to expand the capacity of our planning team."

Capita Property and Infrastructure is looking to recruit principal planners to join its policy and major development teams.

Allen added: “We currently have 12 planners in our major developments team and we are looking to expand this capacity to 16.

“In addition to major developments, we are also embarking on a revision of the council’s local plan and as a result are seeking two additional policy planners to join our policy team of six.”
