Burgeoning housing market prompts expansion

An increase in activity in the housing development market has prompted a Sussex consultancy to seek three new members of staff.

ASP, based in Crowborough, is seeking new staff at associate, senior and graduate level in order to cope with what it says is growing demand for its services.

The recruits will be expected to work on jobs across the South East – and further as far afield as Scotland for the practice’s larger corporate clients.

Andy Stevens, managing director of ASP told Planning: “I think the rise in demand for planning consultancy services must be down to the improving economy and the residential market gaining more confidence.

“Added to this, the fact that the government is pushing councils to produce up to date local plans means that they are beginning to realise they need more housing.

"Landowners are also taking advantage of situations where authorities don’t have an up-to-date local plan in place and we have had some success gaining permission on unallocated sites.”

ASP was formed 17 years ago and has grown to its current size of eight members of staff over that period.
