Walsall Council expands enforcement
Walsall Council is expanding its planning enforcement team to help the local authority draw up a new enforcement plan.
Group manager Shawn Fleet told Planning: “The council is very much stepping up its efforts on enforcement and is moving forward with a new enforcement plan.
“The council has set aside resources to up its game and this involves expanding the team that currently numbers eight".
The council wants to recruit a senior planning officer in enforcement to work on areas such as houses in multiple occupation (HMO), unauthorised development and planning condition breaches.
“As well as housing and commercial development, the borough has conservation areas, countryside development and green belt,” said Fleet.
Ongoing projects in the area include The Quarter, a 55,000 sq ft scheme (pictured) which is part of the regeneration of Walsall's town centre.
