Blaby District Council is looking for a principal planning policy officer to help drive forward the second phase of its local plan.

The council adopted its Local Plan (Core Strategy) document in February 2013, and subsequently began preparing its Delivery Development Plan Document, which will add more detail to some of the broader policies, and look at additional areas, such as site allocations.

Cat Hartley, development strategy manager at Blaby District Council, said the position was a newly created role, with the recruit tasked with helping to progress the DPD.

She said: “We’ve created this resource essentially to focus on the DPD but they will inevitably be picking up other areas of the policy workload.

“Work [in the policy department has] increased over the last couple of years, and that’s meant that we haven’t been able to use our existing resources to progress that project as quickly as we would have liked.”

Hartley said the council was looking for somebody who has experience of producing local development plan documents, and can “hit the ground running” in terms of taking the DPD forward.
