Barton Willmore has appointed Ben Lewis as its first infrastructure and energy director.

In a statement, the firm said that Lewis has joined after 17 years working for GVA, where he led a range of large-scale planning projects across the development industry, with his expertise in advising on and securing consent for nationally significant infrastructure projects, renewable energy schemes and radioactive waste management.

Barton Willmore said that the appointment is its first of a specialist infrastructure director.

Mark Sitch, senior partner at Barton Willmore, said: “The government recognises the need to unlock and provide significant infrastructure across the country, and our clients are increasingly involved in the delivery of large pieces of infrastructure and commercial floorspace.

"We welcome Ben to the practice, to add to our offer and help us to continue to grow our team in this area.”
