Birmingham-based Brooke Smith Planning Consultants has expanded its team by two and made two promotions in response to improving market conditions.

The firm has appointed Beth Mullan (pictured middle-left) as a senior planner at the firm, joining from the London office of consultancy Signet Planning.

Mullan, who gained an MRTPI qualification from the University of Nottingham, worked on major mixed-use regeneration schemes and infrastructure development in her previous role.

In addition, Emily Vyse (pictured far left), who recently graduated from University of Sheffield with a masters in urban studies and planning, has joined the practice as a planner and will help senior members of staff with planning applications, appeals and research.

Andrea Caplan (pictured middle-right) has also been promoted from principal planner to associate director, having been at the firm for six years.

Ghazala Javed (pictured far right) has also become business development manager, promoted from business manager. She joined the firm eight years ago after working as a planning officer at Birmingham City Council.

Javed told Planning: “These appointments are part of an expansion which has come about because we have started struggling with too much work due to the economic turnaround.”
