'Service transformation' prompts Suffolk planning expansion

A programme of 'service transformation' has led to two Suffolk councils seeking to expand their shared planning team.

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are in the process of producing a joint local plan and have worked together under a single management team for around five years.

According to the two councils, they are expected to deliver about a third of all the growth being planned in Suffolk over the next 25 years.

To help tackle this, the councils say they have embarked on a programme of “service transformation” over the past year which has included putting a new planning application system in place and “additional resources to lead our development management service going forward”.

The councils are looking to take on two new principal planning officers.
