An Essex-based housebuilder is looking for an accomplished, ideally chartered Town Planner to join them as a Planner Manager or Senior Planning Manager. Someone with experience in consultancy or housebuilding but ideally someone who has also spent time in the public sector (policy or development management) who is ready for an exciting new challenge with one of the fastest growing developers in the UK.

Experience working on residential developments and major applications is required, although you may have worked on a variety of other projects too.

In order to meet the requirements of this position, a minimum of 3 years' post-graduate experience is essential, although you may have a great deal more.

Your challenge?

To manage a large caseload of strategic and immediate sites through the planning process, coordinate the preparation of planning submissions, including major planning applications, EIA work and planning appeals and ensure a smooth, timely and cost-effective delivery of projects.

Of considerable importance is a solid background in applications-focused planning, but candidates who can offer strategic advisory experience, public inquiries and appeals would be of particular interest.

As well as putting together and managing planning applications from scratch, some of the work will involve taking over the management of sites that have now been allocated and require protection of outlining planning permissions and need reserved matters input.

On a daily basis, you will be working as part of a small team of planners and land specialists, but there is a wider team of planners under a different arm of the business who you will also work with and who have a variety of skills and strengths. The wider team and associated disciplines all work together to bring about the best possible outcomes from every site so effective team working is an essential skill of the successful candidate.

MRTPI chartership is naturally desirable but not essential as relevant experience and the right attitude is key. The ability to become chartered is important and candidates should at least be on the licentiate pathway.

Equally, experience working for a developer is advantageous but the client side nature of this role can be taught. What is of greatest importance is your planning knowledge and experience.

Remuneration is very competitive with an excellent benefits package including car or car allowance, private healthcare, a generous bonus structure and other flexible rewards. The position is flexible in its level and could be offered at Planning Manager or Senior Planning Manager level depending on experience and therefore the salary will adjust to reflect seniority.

The role will involve some travel across the east of England so a full UK driving licence is essential.

Applications are requested urgently and interviews will take place immediately so if you are interested in this position and would like to find out more, please give Claire a call on 020 7859 4246 / 07983 143 831. Alternatively, email claire@lewisdavey.com with your CV and a contact number.

All communication will remain confidential and we will not send your CV to any companies without your explicit permission.

If you do not hear from us within 7 working days then please assume that your application has not been successful on this occasion.
