An exciting opportunity has arisen in join the Development Management Team at the Borough Council.  You will be either a Trainee Officer or Planning Officer responsible for dealing with pre-planning application enquiries, planning applications, enforcement cases and appeals.  The team forms part of the Council’s Planning Service.

The successful candidate will either have a Royal Town Planning Institute accredited degree or be prepared to undertake, with the Council’s support, such a degree course.

If you do not have an RTPI accredited degree you will meet the entry requirements for RTPI accredited courses and as such you will be likely to have a degree or equivalent in Town and Country Planning or a closely related qualification.

You will be likely to have A levels in art and graphic design, or business studies, or economics, or English, or environmental studies, or geography, or history, or ICT, psychology, or politics. You will either be a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute or be prepared to work towards the obtaining of such Membership

You will have

  • excellent IT, report writing, presentation, interpersonal and negotiating skills;
  • commitment/enthusiasm and ability to work to strict deadlines;
  • a current valid driving licence and access to a vehicle that is available for work purposes.

This post will commence on Grade 6 to 8  (£20,138 to £28,485)  per annum with progression beyond top of Grade 6 subject to achievement of RTPI accredited degree and Director’s approval,  and beyond top of Grade 7 subject to securing of MRTPI status and Director’s approval.
