Responsibilities

This is your chance to play an important role in helping to shape and grow the region we serve. Our region is one of the fastest growing in the country and in this unique role you’ll provide specialist town and country planning input into some of our exciting projects.

Based from our Peterborough office you will play a key part in all projects large or small, negotiating and obtaining planning approvals with external parties including local planning authorities ensuring the most cost effective designs are approved, as well as assisting with legal consultations regarding covenants and land purchase. Working directly with our Alliance Partners to secure planning permissions you will work with a diverse range of people, including mixed disciplined project teams, private and public sector professionals and the public.

You will also be responsible for preparing planning and access statements, and when required ensure relevant environmental surveys such as ecological, odour and acoustic impact assessments are undertaken to support planning applications. You will also be required to attend local parish and community meetings to explain proposals, as and when required.

Requirements

Ideally you will be a graduate with a degree qualification (ideally relevant to Town & Country Planning and/or Spatial Planning) and working towards or already a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).

Stakeholder management skills play a key part to the success of this role so you’ll need to be able to demonstrate your experience of how you build positive relationships internally and externally with a variety of people. Excellent presentation skills and the confidence to communicate to a wide variety of audiences are also essential. As a strong influencer you will have good negotiation skills, as well as the ability to work to deadlines and deal with multiple projects.

If successful in your application, you will benefit from access to a company vehicle, so a full UK driving licence is essential. If you are offered the role, the status of your driving licence may be checked.

About Us

The Anglian Water @one Alliance is a collaborative organisation of consultants and contractors working together to deliver more than half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme. We will design and build around 800 schemes worth approximately £1.2billion between April 2015 and March 2020, known as AMP6 – the current five year investment period. Working closely with Anglian Water operational teams and other key stakeholders, we design and construct water and water recycling treatment centres that serve more than six million people in the East of England (and Hartlepool Water) and maintain and improve the water mains and the sewerage network in the region.
