If this is you, then the exciting opportunity for Strategic and Local Planning Manager at Harborough District Council could be exactly what you are looking for.
Reporting to the Head of Planning and Regeneration, you will manage, lead and develop the Strategic and Local Planning Service, working in conjunction with key colleagues, partners and stakeholders to ensure a local plan is successfully delivered and all corporate objectives achieved.
We are preparing a new local plan for the Harborough District which will deliver sustainable development areas including housing and employment growth together with safeguarding the high quality environment of the District.
Working across Leicester and Leicestershire, the role will be integral to the development of a Strategic Growth Plan.
You will also have responsibility for maintaining an up to date Open Space Strategy, overseeing the Council’s approach to securing and monitoring developer contributions and supporting neighbourhood planning in partnership with the communities of the District.
We are seeking an experienced project manager, with a proven track record of delivering complex and challenging projects on time and on budget.
Already a capable and experienced people manager, in addition you will need:
- To demonstrate your skills in deploying resources to ensure delivery
- Experience of leading complex strategic and local planning policy projects to successful conclusion in a local authority
- Experience in the preparation of and the giving of evidence at Inquiries and formal hearings
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; understanding the needs of different audiences
- Experience of preparing and managing budgets
- Comprehensive and up to date knowledge of planning legislation and guidance
- The ability to lead, manage and motivate a professional team, coupled with refined negotiation skills
- The ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external partners and customers
Membership of RTPI is essential along with a degree in planning or related subject.
