Scottish sport and sportscotland had a fantastic 2012 with Scots excelling on the world stage at the Olympics and other world class events, now our focus has shifted to 2014 and beyond as both the Commonwealth Games and Ryder Cup come to Scotland.
sportscotland aims to support Scotland’s continuing sporting successes by providing guidance on the development of sports facilities that will be more accessible to more people, allowing them to regularly take part in quality sporting activities and improving their performances. We will do this through the provision of an advisory service and working closely with partners to invest Scottish Government and National Lottery funding.
As a member of our Sports Development Facilities team, you will provide an advisory planning service on sports facilities, providing sportscotland’s input to the development plan process, ensuring that the interests of sport are protected and improved through sportscotland’s role as a statutory consultee on planning applications affecting playing fields and other sports facilities. You will work with a range of sports bodies, local authorities and other facility providers to set out strategic plans for sports facilities. You will inform the development of these through the use of sportscotland’s Facilities Planning Model.
This post requires you to be an effective communicator; as influencing, negotiating and policy interpretation are all key requirements of the role. Experience in planning policy, development management and planning for sport and recreation is desirable.
You will also hold a degree/postgraduate qualification or equivalent in planning as well as holding corporate membership of the RTPI.
