Planning Enforcement Officer

To assist in dealing with investigation, compliance and planning enforcement in accordance with legislation, guidance, good practice and protocols. To process enforcement cases from investigation phase to their conclusion through either negotiation, committee, inquiry or court. To undertake all investigations on alleged breaches of planning control, including setting up case file (paper or electronic), site visits, surveys, research into land use and history then report To liaise with other Officers and external agencies regarding alleged breaches of planning control. To attend court, inquiry or hearing to give both factual and planning evidence. To prepare committee reports and other approved documents for the planning enforcement service. To assist the Lead Officer, Enforcement in drafting enforcement notices, planning contravention notices, breach of condition notices and other relevant notices, together with statements of case and witness statements as appropriate. To keep up to date with relevant legislation and guidance, and have regard to good practice relating to planning enforcement. To ensure that appropriate and relevant consultation takes place on enforcement matters, identifying all interested parties and supervising all communications as appropriate.
