Senior Planning Officer - Compliance
We have an opportunity for a candidate wishing to build on their knowledge and experience in all aspects of Development Control in a wide range of urban and rural applications, including presenting items to Committee. A degree in a relevant subject is required together with two years experience.
The successful candidate will be involved in duties relating to the investigation of complaints over non-compliance with planning regulations or conditions on planning applications and providing planning advice to other members of the team. A flair for investigation is required and an ability to assess whether breaches of planning control have occurred. You will need good analytical skills and the ability to produce clear and concise reports and recommendations in the context of relevant planning legislation.
The successful candidate will also be expected to assist in aspects of the work programme of the whole Planning Team, including work being directed by other Senior Officers who may be given delegated power, as well as the Assistant Director of Planning & Economic Regeneration.
The duties are of a professional and technical nature but there will be an element of both supervising the work of others and providing mentoring for planners with less experience. There is also an extensive amount of public contact, the occasional presentation of items at Committee, attendance at public meetings, hearings and other meetings as required. Some out of office hours working is part of the job requirement.
