Network Rail is at the heart of revitalising Britain’s railway. From the rejuvenation of King’s Cross station and the upgrade and expansion of Thameslink, to Europe’s largest civil engineering project - Crossrail – we’re involved in some of the most ambitious and diverse ventures Britain has ever seen. This will help us deliver the better railway that is vital for the economic prosperity of this country, transforming how people travel and making a massive difference to passengers and freight users across Britain.
In addition, we’re one of the largest land and property owners in the country. Our Property function is responsible for generating sustainable income from our estate, so that we can then reinvest it into our rail infrastructure. Our diverse portfolio encompasses all 'non-operational' property, from which we constantly seek to derive the best possible value.
In this role – available due to an internal promotion – you’ll join a dynamic London-based team which provides specialist town planning support to a wide range of clients. These clients include other train operating companies, as well as Network Rail. You’ll handle a diverse range of cases, as you work on operational railway projects, planning investigations and appraisals for commercial property schemes. Preparing and submitting planning applications and other consents will be a key part of your remit, which will also see you providing expert heritage advice on complex, sensitive projects - and protecting our interests regarding local authority development plans.
You’ll need:
• Experience of town planning issues and public enquiries
• To be training for MRTPI or MRICS qualification
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Knowledge of planning, listed building and associated consents
• Ability to use initiative and manage your own caseload
• Degree level qualification
We are a committed, hard-working team of professionals, passionate about our achievements and the high standards we set ourselves.
