Planning Policy Manager
Location: £56,835 - £62,225 pa
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week , Permanent

The Planning Policy Team is a key part of the Planning and Property Services Unit of the Royal Borough. Working closely with elected members, other services of the Royal Borough, and local communities, the Team is well on with preparing the Borough Local Plan, and is expecting to present this for public examination in the Spring of 2013. The Royal Borough is also a Vanguard authority for localism, and seven neighbourhood plans, between them covering the whole Royal Borough, are underway and are supported by the Team.
The Planning Policy Manager reports to the Head of Planning and Property Services, and is a member of the Departmental Management Team. The Manager acts as the first point of contact for the Royal Borough on any planning policy matter. As well as leading the Planning Policy Team, the Manager reports to the Royal Borough’s Cabinet from time to time, as well as to other panels and committees, and also liaises with parish councils, neighbourhood planning groups, and other Berkshire authorities.
We are seeking to appoint a Planning Policy Manager with exceptional leadership skills, who will represent the Royal Borough in many technical and high-profile situations. The Manager will have a track record of working on planning policy in the public or private sectors, and will have expert knowledge on current key planning issues. The Manager will lead the Planning Policy Team through many challenges, will have a sound understanding of local authority governance, and will be an outstanding communicator.
