· Lead on proposals for the economic and employment development of the Borough through the formulation and implementation of strategy, plans and projects. Working to bring development sites into use, maximising the quality and number of jobs created.
· Establish and manage excellent working relationships with employers in the borough working through groups and individually and with adult education and skills and training agencies to improve employment and business outcomes.
· The post holder will need to develop, manage and maintain excellent relationships and partnership arrangements with a diverse group of stakeholders in the public and private sectors. They will need to keep abreast with trends and changes to the business profile identifying growth sectors and developments in the market as well as identifying barriers to economic growth. They will work with Council colleagues to solve issues created by conflicting Council polices.
