Consultancy Deloitte Real Estate has recruited planner Katie Wray to join its Manchester planning team as senior planner.

Wray joins from her previous role as assistant planning manager at the Cooperative Group, and will continue to work on some schemes involving the supermarket chain.

In her new role, her focus will be on working within the Manchester city centre strategic team, including the NOMA project - an 8-hectare regeneration project on land owned by the Co-operative Group and Hermes Real Estate.

Wray told Planning: “I will continue to work on the NOMA projects I was working on at Co-op – I have just flipped from the client to the consultant side, and have detailed knowledge of some of the projects.”

She said that priority issues would include public realm improvements and the refurbishment of the Grade II listed Hanover Building.

Wray has previous experience of heritage regeneration projects and her appointment reflects a desire by the consultancy to broaden its skills in this area.

She has a masters in town planning from the University of Manchester and one in architectural conservation.
