Windsor CastleThe Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead is expanding its development management team in response to development pressure and growth plans.

The council is looking for a candidate to fill the newly-created post of deputy head of planning as part of a restructure.

The new role will involve responsibility for the management, delivery and operational improvement of the service, including determining planning applications in accordance with performance targets, defending appeals and maintaining service quality.

Jenifer Jackson, head of planning at the council, told Planning: “Following my appointment as head of service last October the service has been restructured to increase resource and therefore capacity.

“Essentially the postholder would be leading the development management section here at RBWM, which is expanding partly in response to current development pressure in the borough but also to accommodate the council’s future growth plans especially around the regeneration of Maidenhead.”

The council has recently been out consultation on what its new local plan should contain.

It also recently expanded its planning enforcement team and is looking to grow its conservation capacity, Jackson said.

“There is a lot going on across the borough from provision of new housing through tourism and visitor facilities and then to new infrastructure through schools expansion,” she added.
